Effectively treats a broad range of bacterial infections commonly found in dogs and cats

What is Albon®?

ALBON (sulfadimethoxine) is effective for treating a wide range of bacterial infections commonly encountered in dogs and cats. It is indicated for use in dogs and cats with respiratory, genitourinary tract and soft-tissue infections. It is also indicated for treating dogs with bacterial enteritis associated with coccidiosis.

Usage/Dosage: Administer ALBON(R) as directed by your veterinarian. Read the prescription label and follow the enclosed usage instructions. For ALBON Tablets, please refer to the table or the full Prescribing Information for complete dosing and administration information. WARNING: Not for human use. Tablets: 125 mg, 250 mg, or 500 mg sulfadimethoxine per tablet. 125 mg in 200-count bottles 250 mg in 500-count bottles 500 mg in 100- and 500-count bottles Oral Suspension 5%: 60-mL and 473-mL bottles; each tsp (5 mL) contains 250 mg sulfadimethoxine custard-flavored carrier. Plasma protein binding of sulfadimethoxine is high, creating a drug reservoir in the blood that maintains higher blood levels than most other long-acting sulfonamides. A single, daily dose gives rapid and sustained therapeutic blood levels for 24 hours. Daily dosing increases likelihood of compliance, potentially improving outcomes. Available as a tablet and a palatable custard-flavored suspension that eases administration

Side Effects:

This product may cause diarrhea.

Sulfa crystals may appear in your pet's urine.

Your pet should be allowed to drink plenty of water while taking this medication.

Other more rare side effects that may occur with sulfonamide antibiotics include:

• dry eye syndrome, anemia, fever, loss of appetite, vomiting or diarrhea, joint inflammation, kidney damage, and skin rash. Stop the medication and contact your veterinarian if any of the above symptoms occur.

Other side effects may also occur.

If your pet experiences an allergic reaction, signs may include facial swelling, hives, scratching, sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, or coma. If these signs occur, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet.

Precautions:

During treatment period, make certain your pet maintains adequate water intake. Contact your veterinarian if your pet shows no improvement within 2-3 days of starting the treatment.
