Amiodarone Product Info: Amiodarone Hydrochloride (Cordarone) is used to treat certain types of irregular heartbeats. It is mainly used in dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy and atrial fibrilation.

Uses: This medication is used to treat certain types of serious (possibly fatal) irregular heartbeat (such as persistent ventricular fibrillation/tachycardia). It is used to restore normal heart rhythm and maintain a regular, steady heartbeat. Amiodarone is known as an anti-arrhythmic drug. It works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart that can cause an irregular heartbeat.

Dose Recommended: dose rate is 16.0 mg/kg as a loading dose, followed by 5.0 - 9.0 mg/kg maintenance dose once daily. Always follow your Vet's direction.

Side Effects: anaphylaxis, bradycardia, increased ALT and AST, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism and in very rare cases pulmonary interstitial fibrosis.
